Cotton

Cotton absorbs water better than any other fabric and has the ability to withstand all kinds of wear and tear. That is why cotton garments can be tossed in the washing machine repeatedly at extremely cold or hot temperature cycles. Cotton can even hold up against the harsh chemicals that are found in bleach.

Cotton is one of the most easy to care for fabrics. The only really important thing to remember when washing cotton is that it should be separated by color and weight. The color of some dyed garments can bleed and ruin an entire load so it needs to be grouped with like colors. Weight, along with the color of the cotton garment are used to determine the temperature of the water it should be washed in. For instance, warm water is normally used on light colored cottons and/or lighter in weight fabrics whereas cold water is used for darker colored cottons and/or heavier fabrics.

There are no specific rules or guidelines for storing cotton, because it is so versatile. After the cotton garments are taken out from the dryer, you’ll notice that it wrinkles very easily. Ironing out the wrinkles before storing away your cotton garments is always recommended to keep them looking their best.
