Linen
Caring for your linen garments can vary greatly. Some are labeled dry clean only while others can be hand washed or even thrown into a delicate cycle of the washing machine. Read the care instructions carefully before attempting to clean your linen garments. Hand washing requires only mild detergent in lukewarm water. Never wring or twist the garment while washing.
Stains need to be treated immediately. Remove a stain by gently blotting with a damp cloth. Avoid rubbing the stained area. Bring the garment to a professional dry cleaner as soon as possible to tackle stains that are harder to remove.
In most cases, linen should be laid on a flat surface to air dry. It can also be placed in the dryer on low heat and taken out while still damp. Linen gets be extremely wrinkled after it is washed. Always iron linen garments while they are still a little damp. Turn it inside out and place a press cloth over the area to be ironed. Do not steam iron linen garments, make sure the iron is dry at all times. For added crispness, spray some starch to the garment before the ironing process.
